Are You a Subject of Cliché or Stereotype?

You’re invited to join us on 10th March at 18.00 to discuss cliché and stereotypes!

The purpose of the program is to be able to talk about the difference between cliche and stereotype. At the same time, our main aim with this program is to educate our attendees about these taboos and stereotypes and make them question themselves about if they are a part of this stereotypical system of society or are they being cliché by obeying these taboos.

1. Part: Seminar

The speaker is going to explain to the audience the difference between cliche and stereotype.

The seminar will take approximately 15-20 minutes.

2. Part: Workshop

The audience sits in a circle and takes thumbnails by the speaker.

Then, the participants perform animations to explain the small pictures given to them. Other participants try to guess who it is or from which country it is. A discussion environment is ready for the cliché and stereotype. In fact, it is noticed how prone people are to stereotypes and clichés.

The workshop will take approximately 45 minutes.

Last week, we held a workshop on cliché and stereotypes. We understood the differences of taboos, cliches, and stereotypes and gave examples about them. We realize that many of us focus on the stereotypes we have, whether they are right or wrong, but in the end, we have come to an agreement that it doesn’t matter whether they are right or wrong, it harms communication between people. We would like to thank all our participants who are aware of the stereotypes and have the courage to admit them.
